Christmas in Relief

From the collections of Curator of History Val Roy Berryman

Ground Floor Entry Hall

Nov. 28, 2011 - Jan. 31, 2012

"Christmas in Relief," a new exhibit at Michigan State University Museum, features early 20th century German Christmas and New Year's decorations made of die-cut, heavy paper pressed into three dimensional forms. Pieces from the personal collection of Curator of History Val Berryman will range from tiny Santa scenes that were attached to gingerbread cookies to large Christmas wall decorations. The same technique created advertising calendar/wall pockets decorated with colorful 3-D scenes. Given to customers at Christmas, the calendars displayed the store's message in the customer's home for the next year.

Venue : Ground Floor Entry Hall, MSU Museum
