However, the couple's happiness is jeopardized as Mortimer learns that insanity runs in his family. Abby and Martha, his two spinster aunts, have developed a hobby of poisoning lonely old men with wine laced with arsenic, strychnine and cyanide. His two brothers-one who believes he is Teddy Roosevelt and the other, a murderer who has recently undergone plastic surgery to disguise his identity with the help of his accomplice Dr. Einstein- attempt to outrun the law and commitment to the Happydale Sanatorium.
